GTA 6 trailers: what each official video establishes

Compare Rockstar's two numbered trailers with its extended presentation, and see where the footage stops short of confirming gameplay details.

Rockstar’s official video gallery lists three main Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) videos: Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and “An Extended Look.” The last is a longer presentation, not a numbered Trailer 3. The gallery, checked October 2, 2026, also includes short character clips and other media.

Trailer 1: the initial reveal

Rockstar labels its first numbered video “Trailer 1” and dates it December 4, 2023. It provides a starting point for the game’s visual identity and setting. The current official synopsis places that setting in Leonida, which includes Vice City.

A brief appearance of a street, person or vehicle allows us to describe the image. It does not establish that every object can be explored, driven or encountered in a mission. Our Vice City and Leonida map guide separates officially named places from map speculation.

Trailer 2: Jason and Lucia’s premise

The second trailer page and game overview center Jason and Lucia. Rockstar says an easy score goes wrong, leaving them caught in a conspiracy across Leonida. This establishes the starting conflict, not the mission sequence, every antagonist or the ending.

The Jason and Lucia profiles provide biographical context without treating an edited scene as proof of an unexplained mechanic.

“An Extended Look”: how it differs

Rockstar dates the longer presentation August 27, 2026 and says it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. That is a clearer statement about the source of the images than a generic trailer label. In-game footage alone does not prove a continuous unedited play session or a particular frame rate.

Our separate look at the extended presentation covers that release. The declared capture platform is PS5, so this footage cannot be used as a PS5 Pro performance test.

How to read the videos together

Publication order shows how Rockstar presented the game, not the chronological order of its story. Editing cuts cannot establish a complete map, exhaustive vehicle list, crossplay support or campaign length. The official gallery is the place to check for a newly released video or a change in its label.
