GTA 6 at 30 or 60 FPS: PS5 and Xbox performance status
Separate announced platforms and features from official video and untested performance, without assuming a 60 FPS mode on PS5, Pro or Xbox.
Last updated: November 8, 2026
We could not verify an announcement of 30 or 60 FPS modes for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) in the official sources checked on October 18, 2026. PlayStation’s PS5 Pro Enhanced label and Xbox’s Series X|S optimisation label do not establish a frame rate on their own.
An average does not describe the whole experience
1,000 ÷ FPS gives ideal milliseconds per frame: approximately 33.3 at 30 FPS, 25 at 40 and 16.7 at 60. These are mathematical references, not announced GTA VI modes.
Imagine 29 frame intervals of 20 ms and one of 420 ms. They total one second and 30 frames, but contain a long pause. Thirty evenly paced intervals of about 33.3 ms have the same average with a different rhythm. This is a constructed example, not captured performance.
| Test detail | Useful for | What it cannot establish alone |
|---|---|---|
| Average FPS | Summarising a sequence | Consistent pacing |
| Frame-time graph | Finding spikes | Context and repeatability |
| Mode and console | Identifying the comparison | Build and settings |
| Edited video | Showing selected scenes | Representative continuous measurement |
Our minimum comparison record includes console model, build, mode, duration and matched scenes. Driving results do not automatically describe interiors or crowds.

What is established for each console?

| PS5 | Announced for PS5 | Pending |
| PS5 Pro | Included by PlayStation with Pro Enhanced label | Pending |
| Xbox Series X | Included in Series X|S | Pending |

This is not a parity test or a performance ranking. Our platform guide covers compatibility and announced features. This page focuses on the evidence needed to assess frame rates.
What the official footage establishes
PlayStation describes An Extended Look as in-game footage captured on PS5. That identifies the stated capture platform, rather than providing our own measurements of the finished game.
A video file’s playback rate or a YouTube setting cannot establish how many distinct frames the game renders. A 60 FPS upload can repeat or interpolate frames. Promotional scenes also cannot certify stability throughout the campaign. We have neither measured the video nor tested a playable build.
Reading a 30 versus 60 FPS comparison
At 30 FPS, each frame has roughly 33.3 milliseconds; at 60, roughly 16.7. These are mathematical relationships, not GTA VI specifications. A 60 FPS average does not guarantee evenly delivered frames.
Useful testing identifies console, build, graphics mode, resolution and behaviour in demanding scenes. Stutters and drops matter alongside the average. A television supporting 120 Hz does not make a game render at 60 or 120 FPS.
PS5 Pro and a possible performance mode
More powerful hardware or an enhancement label cannot establish a 60 FPS option. Our PS5 Pro guide covers that console separately. We do not treat quality/performance modes, native resolution, ray tracing or a 40 FPS target as announced here.
If 60 FPS determines your console choice, wait for official mode descriptions and comparable retail-build tests. An advertised target and a measured sustained frame rate are different evidence; each needs a platform and version.

Your next step
Before changing hardware, identify whether you care most about pacing, response or sharpness. One number cannot answer all three. Base spending on evidence that measures your essential feature.
